Tips for Testing and Storing Edge Bandings
As temperatures drop in various regions, it’s important to pay extra attention to edge banding applications. A simple way to test the quality of edge banding tapes is by using a scrap board made of MDF, OSB, or particle board.

The Importance of Daily Testing
Regular testing of edge banding strips is crucial for several reasons:
- Inspect Machine Parts: Daily checks help identify any damage to the edge banding machine, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
- Maintain Blades: This practice allows you to spot dull blades early, enabling timely replacements and reducing defects in your edge banding.
- Check Adhesive Quality: Testing ensures that the back coating (primer glue) adheres properly, which is vital for a strong bond.
- Detect Seam Quality: You can verify whether the sealing is seamless, which is essential for both the aesthetic and structural integrity of your finished product.
- Assess Surface Resistance: After trimming, you can check if the edge bandings remain white and resist wear, ensuring a high-quality finish.
Luyao Edge Banding Testing Guidelines
When working with hot melt glue, adjusting the temperature according to the weather is key:
- Below 0°C (32°F): Use hot melt glue at 220-225°C (428-437°F). You might need an additional heating device.
- 1°C to 10°C (34°F to 50°F): Set the glue temperature between 210-220°C (410-428°F).
- 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F): Work with hot melt glue at 190-205°C (374-401°F).
- 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F): Adjust the glue temperature to 180-185°C (356-365°F).
- 30°C to 40°C (86°F to 104°F): Maintain the hot melt glue temperature around 175-180°C (347-356°F).
These values are guidelines, so it’s essential to adapt them based on local conditions and your specific machinery.
Suggestions for Edge Banding Storage
To ensure the longevity and performance of your edge banding materials, keep these storage tips in mind:
- Use Proper Packaging: Store edge banding in its original carton or on clean, dry shelves to protect it from contaminants.
- Control Dust and Humidity: Dust and humidity can negatively affect the adhesive properties of the edge banding. Ensure your storage area is clean and dry for optimal adhesion.
