Storage and operation precautions of PUR glue

Storage: Keep away from light and moisture when unopened, temperature 0-25℃ (usually our shipped products will be adjusted according to the temperature of your country, so don’t worry)
Operation:
Used with edge banding machine, install it directly on the glue press after removing the aluminum film, and set the machine glue application temperature
Complete the pressing within 1 minutes after gluing, and the pressure ≥3 kg to ensure the initial bonding strength
Waste disposal: After curing, it is an inert material and can be treated as general industrial waste

What is the curing time of PUR hot melt glue?

PUR glue curing is divided into two stages: initial setting (cooling) and final setting (moisture crosslinking)
Preheating substrate: Properly heat the surface of the adherend (such as 40-60℃) to accelerate moisture reaction.
Accurate temperature control: Ensure that the glue application temperature is 130-150℃. The temperature and energy consumption in this stage are the lowest.
Fast curing: 5 seconds for initial setting, 24 hours for complete curing, suitable for automated production lines.
Environmental control:
Humidity adjustment: Keep the ambient humidity ≥40% to promote the reaction of -NCO groups with moisture (ensuring air humidity is the most important point when using PUR glue)
Equipment matching: Not every edge banding machine can use PUR glue. You need to contact us for consultation. We will provide a suitable solution based on your machine to ensure that the glue amount is uniform when producing furniture and reduce adjustment time.

Is PUR adhesive toxic?

Safety: PUR adhesive (moisture-curing reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesive) does not contain solvents, has a 100% solid content, and releases no harmful substances after curing, which meets environmental protection requirements. However, the specific toxicity needs to be determined based on the formula and usage scenario:
Food contact compliance: If used for food packaging or contact materials, it must comply with the “GB 4806.15-2024” standard, distinguish between adhesive types that directly/indirectly contact food, and meet migration limits (such as aromatic primary amines, N-nitrosamines, etc.).

High initial purchase cost

The unit price of PUR glue is usually 3-5 times that of EVA glue, but comprehensive long-term benefit evaluation shows that 20kg EVA glue can cover up to 3,000 meters of board with the same thickness, while 20KG PUR glue can cover 9,500 meters of board. Compared with EVA glue, PUR glue has less glue output and is thinner, without glue marks, which is more suitable for mid-to-high-end furniture production, and has a low rework rate, and better overall cost.
