PVC Laminated Film for Furniture
At LUYAO, we have been supplying furniture surface materials to panel processors, cabinet factories and door manufacturers across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and South America for over 20 years. Our PVC laminated film for furniture is produced on calendering lines at our shanghai facility, and — this is where most of our customers stay with us — every decor is available in a matching PVC edge banding from the same dye lot. No more color drift between the panel face and the edge.
This page covers what the film is, where it works, the specs that matter on a production line, and how to spec the right grade for your project.
Looking for matching edges? See our PVC Edge Banding and ABS Edge Banding — same color, same gloss level, supplied together.

What Is PVC Laminated Film?
PVC laminated film is a decorative surface film — typically 0.10 mm to 0.50 mm thick — bonded onto wood-based panels (MDF, particleboard, plywood, HDF) using hot pressing, membrane pressing, or profile wrapping.
For furniture manufacturers working in the mid-market segment, PVC film for wood panel lamination (中文行业里常说的 木板贴面 PVC 膜) is still the best balance of cost, durability and design flexibility — better than melamine paper on wear resistance, better than veneer on price stability, and far more flexible than PET when wrapping profiled edges.
Three reasons our customers specify LUYAO PVC decorative laminated film:
- Deep embossing and synchronized texture — wood grain that you can feel, not just see
- Wrap-ability around routed profiles — critical for shaker doors, drawer fronts, beveled edges
- Color consistency batch-to-batch — our color lab matches Pantone / RAL / customer samples within ΔE ≤ 1.0
Core Applications
PVC Laminated Film for MDF Panels
MDF is the most common substrate our customers laminate. Its smooth, uniform surface accepts PVC film cleanly without telegraphing substrate defects.
LUYAO PVC laminated film for MDF is calibrated specifically for:
- Membrane press applications — vacuum forming around routed profiles (kitchen cabinet doors, wardrobe fronts)
- Flat lamination on continuous press lines
- Postforming on cabinet door edges and worktop nosings
Recommended thickness:
| Application | Thickness |
|---|---|
| Membrane press (3D profiles) | 0.30 – 0.40 mm |
| Flat lamination | 0.15 – 0.25 mm |
| Postforming edges | 0.30 mm |
Cabinet PVC Laminated Film
Cabinet doors are where film performance gets tested hardest — moisture from sinks, heat from cooktops, daily cleaning chemicals, edge wrap stress that pulls at the bond line for years.
Our cabinet PVC laminated film is formulated for:
- Plasticizer stability — no shrink-back or edge-lift after 12+ months in service
- Cleaning chemical resistance — tested per EN 12720 against common kitchen cleaners
- Surface hardness ≥ 2H (pencil hardness, ASTM D3363)
- Steam and moisture resistance for areas near sinks and dishwashers
Widths up to 1400 mm so you can do full-height pantry doors and tall wardrobe panels without seam joints.
Door PVC Laminated Film
Interior doors are a different challenge — large flat surfaces, visible under raking light, strict color uniformity requirements across long rolls.
LUYAO door PVC laminated film is produced with tight thickness tolerance (±0.01 mm) to prevent visible bands or gloss variation across a full door face. Roll lengths of 200–500 meters depending on thickness, which cuts splice frequency on your lamination line and reduces waste.
Furniture Decorative PVC Film — Wardrobes, Office, Bedroom
Beyond cabinets and doors, our furniture decorative PVC film is specified for:
- Wardrobe panels and sliding door inserts
- Office desks, conference tables, partition systems
- Bedroom furniture — headboards, dressers, nightstands
- Children’s furniture — phthalate-free grades meeting EN 71-3
- Hotel and contract furniture (FR grades available on request)

Decor Range — 200+ Patterns in Stock
LUYAO maintains a standing inventory of 200+ decors across five categories:
- Wood grain — oak, walnut, ash, teak, maple, cherry (synchronized embossing available)
- Solid colors — white, grey, beige, black, and custom RAL/Pantone matches
- Marble and stone — Calacatta, Carrara, Statuario looks
- Soft-touch and matte — anti-fingerprint surfaces (trending in 2024–2025)
- High-gloss — UV-coated finishes for premium cabinet programs
Custom decors: MOQ 3000 meters, 4–6 weeks from artwork approval to first roll. Our design team works directly with your CMF (color-material-finish) team to develop exclusive patterns.
Every decor in our standard range has a matching LUYAO PVC edge banding available from the same color batch — this is the main reason mid-size cabinet factories source the film and edges from us together.
Why Furniture Manufacturers Choose LUYAO
1. Color-matched system — film + edge banding from one supplier Most film suppliers do not produce edge banding, and most edge banding suppliers do not produce film. We do both, in the same factory, with shared color reference standards. You get a seamless panel face and edge with one purchase order.
2. Tight quality control Every batch is tested for thickness, peel strength, surface hardness, ΔE color difference. QC reports ship with every order. We retain physical samples from every production lot for 12 months — if something looks off six months later, we can trace it.
3. Real production capacity 30+ calendering lines, 8,000,000 m/month capacity. We are not a trading company. When you place a 50,000 m order, it goes onto our line, not someone else’s.
4. Compliance documentation ready REACH, RoHS, EN 71-3, CARB, Prop 65 — we maintain current certifications and can supply documentation packages for your customs and customer audits.
5. Tested logistics from China We ship from shanghai or ningbo port with consolidated container options. Standard lead time 15–25 days for stock decors, 35–45 days for custom production. We handle export documentation in-house.
How to Choose the Right Grade — A Practical Guide
If you are speccing PVC laminated film for the first time, three questions decide everything:
1. What substrate and what process?
- MDF + membrane press → 0.30–0.40 mm, high elongation grade
- Particleboard + flat lamination → 0.15–0.25 mm, standard grade
- HDF + profile wrapping → 0.18–0.25 mm, wrap grade
2. What end-use environment?
- Kitchen / bathroom → cabinet grade, EN 12720 chemical resistance required
- Bedroom / office → standard grade is fine
- Children’s furniture → phthalate-free grade (EN 71-3)
- Hotel / contract → FR grade if local fire code requires
3. What is the visual requirement?
- Premium flat doors → calendered grade with ±0.01 mm tolerance (avoids gloss banding)
- 3D embossed cabinet doors → synchronized grain grade
- High-gloss programs → UV-topcoated grade
If you are not sure, send us your panel sample and the application — our technical team will spec the right grade and send a free sample roll for press trials.
PVC Laminated Film for Furniture Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between PVC laminated film and PVC edge banding? A: Same family of material, different format. Film is wide-roll (1260–1400 mm) and laminated onto the panel face. Edge banding is narrow-strip (typically 22–45 mm) and applied to the panel edge. LUYAO produces both in matching colors so the face and edge of a finished panel look like one piece.
Q: Can LUYAO match a competitor’s existing decor? A: Yes — send a physical sample (minimum 10 × 10 cm). Our color lab will produce a match within ΔE ≤ 1.0, typically in 7–10 days. We will send you a free sample roll for approval before production.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity? A: Stock decors — 1 roll (typically 300 meters). Custom decors — 3000 meters minimum, 4–6 weeks production.
Q: Is the film phthalate-free? A: Our standard grade meets REACH limits. For furniture sold into the EU children’s market, US (CPSIA) or other strict markets, specify our phthalate-free grade at order — it meets EN 71-3 and Prop 65 requirements at no significant cost premium.
Q: How does PVC laminated film compare with melamine paper or PET film? A: Quick comparison:
| Feature | PVC Laminated Film | Melamine Paper | PET Film |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Mid | Low | High |
| 3D wrap-ability | Excellent | Poor | Good |
| Scratch resistance | Good | Fair | Excellent |
| Color depth | Excellent | Good | Excellent |
| Recyclability | Fair | Poor | Good |
| Best for | Cabinet doors, profiled panels | Flat panels, shelving | Premium high-gloss |
For most cabinet and door programs, PVC film is the right answer. For premium high-gloss or eco-positioned product lines, ask us about our PET film range.
Q: Do you supply technical support for press trials? A: Yes. Our technical team can advise on press temperature, pressure, dwell time and adhesive selection for your specific line. For larger projects we can send an engineer on-site (Asia region) or provide remote support via video for other regions.
Q: What payment and shipping terms? A: Standard terms — 30% T/T deposit, 70% before shipment. L/C at sight acceptable for orders above USD 2000. We ship FOB , CIF, or DDP depending on your preference.
Q: Can I get samples before placing an order? A: Yes — free sample swatches (A4 size) of any stock decor, shipped by DHL. For press trials, we provide a free 5-meter sample roll; freight at customer cost.
