How to choose the edge banding width based on panel thickness?

The edge banding width should be slightly larger than the panel thickness, typically 1.5–2.5mm per side for trimming. Recommendations:
Panel 15–16mm → edge banding width 18–19mm
Panel 16–18mm → width 20–22mm
Panel 18–20mm → width 25–30mm
Excessive width increases trimming difficulty and waste; insufficient width leaves exposed substrate or white lines. LUYAO supplies edge banding rolls with width tolerance ±0.1mm and can customise the optimal width based on your panel thickness.

How to solve edge lifting or delamination of edge banding?

Edge lifting or delamination is usually caused by:
Insufficient temperature – pre‑glued edge banding requires 180–200°C; machine speed too high reduces heat transfer.
Insufficient pressure – worn or poorly adjusted press rollers.
Dirty/oily panel edge – clean before edge banding.
Thickness mismatch – creates internal stress.
Moisture absorption during storage – reduces adhesive bond.
LUYAO recommendation: First check machine parameters (temperature, speed, pressure). If the issue persists, provide the batch number to our technical team for analysis. For qualified rolls, we honour our quality responsibility.

How do you guarantee colour consistency between batches of edge banding, and what if colour difference occurs?

LUYAO guarantees batch‑to‑batch colour consistency ΔE < 1 (visually imperceptible) through:
Spectrophotometer measurement of each raw material batch.
Sampling every 500–1000m during production against a master colour standard.
Archiving colour standards for at least 3 years.
If you receive different batches with visible colour difference (ΔE > 1):
Stop using immediately, take photos or send samples to us.
Provide relevant batch numbers.
We will re‑inspect within 3 working days. If our fault, we will replace the rolls free of charge and cover return shipping.
Note: Systematic colour differences may exist between different gloss levels (e.g., high gloss vs matte) or different materials (PVC vs ABS). Use the same material and finish within one order whenever possible.

How many linear meters of panels can one roll of edge banding cover?

he length of edge banding needed depends on panel perimeter. Formula:
Required length (meters) = Single panel perimeter (m) × Number of panels × (1 + waste rate)
Waste rate: 5–10% (10% for manual, 5% for fully automatic).
Example: 1,000 cabinet doors 600mm×400mm each. Perimeter = (0.6+0.4)×2 = 2.0m.
Required = 2.0 × 1,000 × 1.10 = 2,200m.
LUYAO offers standard roll lengths of 200m, 300m, 400m, 500m, 600m. To minimise changeover downtime, choose longer rolls (e.g., 6 rolls of 400m = 2,400m, leaving 200m spare).

Can LUYAO‘s ABS edge banding be used for outdoor furniture?

ABS edge banding has better heat and UV resistance than PVC, but long‑term direct outdoor exposure (sun, rain, severe temperature swings) may still cause degradation. For full outdoor furniture (garden chairs, fences):
Use special UV‑stabilised ABS edge banding with PUR adhesive.
Best alternative: avoid edge banding or use solid wood/metal edges.
LUYAO offers UV‑resistant ABS edge banding tested to 1000 hours QUV, but we still recommend a topcoat for outdoor applications. For semi‑outdoor environments (covered patios, porches), our UV‑stabilised ABS performs well. Specify “outdoor use” when ordering, and we will adjust the formula accordingly.

Manual Edgebander

Manual edgebanders suit small furniture workshops, DIY enthusiasts, on‑site repairs, or small batch production. Typical equipment includes hand‑held hot air edgebanders or household irons.

Semi‑automatic Edgebander

Semi‑automatic edgebanders typically feature automatic gluing, strip cutting, and pressing, but require manual panel feeding or edge trimming. They are common in small‑to‑medium furniture factories or custom workshops.

Automatic Edgebande

Fully automatic edgebanders are used for high‑volume continuous production, with stations such as pre‑milling, glue application, pressing, end cutting, rough and fine trimming, scraping, and buffing. High‑end models also feature laser or hot air zero‑joint systems.

The customisation process has four steps: ① Submit requirements → ② Lab sampling (3–5 working days) → ③ Sample approval → ④ Mass production. MOQ: 5,000 linear meters for custom colours.
