Our entire procedure of testing is ISO 18217:2015 and other international standards compliant, with advanced testing instruments and precise data analysis, involving various important testing points. the following is our testing procedures, testing items, requirements, instruments and data in detail.
Testing Data
- Thickness: 0.4mm-3mm (customizable), tolerance ±0.02mm.
- Width: 10mm-80mm (customizable), tolerance ±0.2mm.
- Adhesion Strength: 1.8-2.2N/mm² (meets and exceeds the requirement of ≥1.5N/mm²).
- Color Fastness: 4-5 grade (no obvious fading after 1000 hours of sunlight exposure).
- Wear Resistance: 6000-8000 cycles (exceeds the requirement of ≥5000 cycles).
- Waterproof Performance: No swelling or deformation after 24 hours of water soaking.
- Heat Resistance: No deformation or discoloration after 2 hours at 80℃.
Testing Process
- Pre-production testing : We evaluate the raw materials (PVC resin, ABS particles, Adhesive, Pigment etc.) prior to production to ensure that they meet our quality standards. It shall include the testing for the purity of raw material, colour fastness and compatibility etc.
- In-Production Testing: Our quality inspectors perform sampling test during the extruding, printing and lamination process for thickness, width, color and adhesion of the edge banding, this is enable us monitor the stability and consistency of the production parameters.
Finished product test: performance test (adhesion, abrasion resistance etc.) and visual inspections (color uniformity, surface smoothness etc.) are carried out for each batch of edge banding after production. - Testing prior to Shipment: We undertake to re-test on critical indicators by taking random samples of each batch before shipment, in the hope that everything we send your way is perfect and conform with your requirements, and also ours.
Testing Items & Requirements
- Thickness & Width Accuracy: Requirement: Thickness tolerance ±0.02mm, width tolerance ±0.2mm. This ensures that the edge banding fits perfectly with the board and is easy to install.
- Adhesion Strength: Requirement: ≥1.5N/mm². We test the adhesion between the edge banding and the base material (such as MDF, particleboard) to ensure that it does not peel off during use. This includes normal temperature adhesion strength, moisture-heat resistance, and cold-heat cycle resistance tests.
- Color Fastness: Requirement: ≥4-5 grade (according to ISO 105-B02 standard). This ensures that the edge banding does not fade or discolor when exposed to sunlight, moisture, or cleaning agents. We use CIE Lab and ΔE metrics to ensure color consistency, with ΔE values below 2-3 to ensure no visible color difference in normal use.
- Wear Resistance: Requirement: ≥5000 cycles (according to ISO 105-X12 standard). This ensures that the edge banding can withstand daily wear and tear, maintaining its appearance for a long time.
- Waterproof Performance: Requirement: No swelling or deformation after soaking in water at 25℃ for 24 hours. This prevents the edge banding from being damaged by moisture, ensuring the durability of the furniture or decoration.
- Heat Resistance: Requirement: No deformation or discoloration at 80℃ for 2 hours. This ensures that the edge banding can adapt to different environmental temperatures without losing its performance.
- Surface Smoothness: Requirement: No scratches, bubbles, or unevenness on the surface. This ensures the aesthetic appearance of the edge banding and improves the overall quality of the finished product.
Testing Instruments
- Universal Testing Machine: Used to test adhesion strength, tensile strength, and peel strength, with an accuracy of ±0.01N. This instrument is essential for measuring the bonding effect between the edge banding and the base material.
