Should I buy a width larger than the edge I’m applying it to?

For the best results, we recommend purchasing a width slightly wider than the edge you intend to cover. This makes application easier without the stress of perfect alignment. You can also easily trim any excess for a clean finish. Additionally, we strongly recommend watching our Luyao Group tutorial videos—they’re short and practical, helping you master the use of Luyao Group in no time!

What if I see adhesive oozing from the edges after applying Luyao Group?

If you notice excess adhesive, it’s important to clean it up carefully. Avoid using harsh chemicals, as this can compromise the adhesive bond. Instead, gently scrape away the excess adhesive with a razor blade to maintain the integrity of the Luyao Group application.

Does Luyao Group work on exposed MDF edges and ABS edging?

Yes, Luyao Group can be applied to exposed MDF, but you’ll need to prepare the surface first. Apply a binder coat made of 50% contact cement and 50% lacquer thinner, let it stand for 10 minutes, and then apply Luyao Group. However, we do not recommend using Luyao Group on ABS panels, as the adhesive may not hold up over time.

How do I flatten Luyao Group before application?

To ensure that Luyao Group lays flat and is easy to work with, cut it to the approximate length you need, then use the edge of a table or FastCap’s De-Curl tool. Hold one end and pull the other end through at a 45-degree angle to remove any curls, making application a breeze.

How to Apply and Finish Luyao Group

  1. Prepare the Surface: Ensure the surface is clean and free of dust or debris. This step is crucial for optimal adhesion.
  2. Apply Pressure: Use a tool like the SpeedRollerPRO to apply even pressure across the Luyao Group, ensuring a strong bond.
  3. Instant Adhesion: Luyao Group sticks instantly upon application, but for the best results, allow 24 hours for the adhesive to fully cure.
  4. Finishing Instructions: When applying stains or finishes to the material, do so lightly—avoid oversaturating, as this can cause solvents to seep under and weaken the adhesive bond.

Applying Luyao Group to MDF

For MDF surfaces, it’s essential to use a binder coat to address any loose particles. We recommend applying a diluted mixture of 50% contact cement and 50% lacquer thinner. Roll it on, let it stand for 10 minutes, and then proceed with applying Luyao Group for a secure bond.

Using Edge Banding on Curved Surfaces

If you’re applying Luyao Group to a radius, using a heat gun can be incredibly helpful. The heat relaxes the material, allowing it to conform more easily to the curves of your project. Just be mindful not to overheat, as this can damage the material.

Conclusion

Luyao Group is not just an edge banding solution; it’s a game-changer for anyone involved in woodworking or cabinetry. With its ease of use, variety of material options, and strong adhesive properties, Luyao Group is the perfect choice for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. Whether you’re working on intricate cabinetry, making quick repairs, or updating existing surfaces, Luyao Group will help you achieve a flawless finish with minimal effort.
